Located 15 miles south of Fredericksburg at Guinea Station. It was here that Gen. Thomas J. Jackson died, May 10, 1863.
On the night of the great Confederate victory at Chancellorsville, Jackson was accidentally wounded by his own men. His arm was amputated. Gen. Lee, fearing that Jackson would be captured, had him moved here. He seemed to recover, but pneumonia set in and he died 8 days after the accident.
Highlights:
The small white frame building was originally a plantation office. It's furnished to look as it did at the time of Jackson's death, with bed and medical equipment.
